Glenn Rubenstein - "So it's been awhile..." (October 2005)
First off, thanks for stopping by. Thank you for your
continued interest. Seriously...I can't believe the traffic this
site still receives. Part of me is amazed that people are still
listening to Headboard songs, buying Headboard CDs on Amazon, and
downloading Headboard tracks on iTunes. I know it's been a long
time with no updates. Even with no effort on my part, your interest
and continued support has kept Headboard's music alive...everytime
I've checked, it's still been strong. Thank you.
I am in the process of updating this site and getting all things
Headboard in order. There is information below and links to where
you can buy the CD's. I'm debating putting a retrospective CD together
with the best tracks + myriad bonus tracks (lots of stuff that never
saw the light of day). Who knows? If there is interest, I'll do
it...please email me (Glenn) your
thoughts.
It should come as no surprise that I've taken a break from all things
Headboard for quite awhile, I didn't even really listen to any of
our music in the past 2-3 years. I was pretty bummed about how things
ended with the last line-up (it was *my* favorite since "The
End Is Near"-era). Regrets? Sure...but I can say that I tried
and gave it 100% (x 7 even).
I've actually been great since then. I've channelled my energy into
other endeavors (creating an online series, running my own production company,
and living a *very* interesting life).
In December, it will be 10 years since I first started Headboard...crazy,
huh? I just *finally* loaded my complete Headboard collection onto
my iPod and listened to a reasonable retrospective on a long car
ride. I've also played some tracks for people I've met in recent
years who were curious about"my past life." Kind of re-discovering
it has given me a fresh perspective on things. There are songs I
really like. There are songs I would love to fix or tweak. There
are key points in the timestream that I've noted, just in case I
ever come into possession of a time machine. :)
From 1995 to 2002 I put a lot of effort into Headboard. In a way,
it was the most important thing in my life. Because I enjoyed it
so much, I wanted to do it full-time. "Making it" became
the all consuming goal. Looking back, we came a lot closer than
most bands do--many times, actually. In fact, the internal stress
always proved the breaking point.
Anyhow, it's nice to be re-visiting this out of enjoyment and genuine
love of the music we've created. I'm going to be adding a lot of
information to this site--photos, info, FAQs, music, videos--and
we'll see what happens.
On behalf of myself--and everyone else who's been involved with
Headboard over the years--thank you for both your continued interest
and support!
